Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Cervara.
Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of 2023.
Success also means the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event in the past months.
His defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.
Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better service.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a third set.
Moutet saved 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
